Resources Top > The NHS in Norfolk > Primary Care Trusts Since October 2006, Norfolk's PCTs reorganised and, once more, a unitary "Health Authority" body, apart from Great Yarmouth and Waveney, covers Norfolk. PCTs are central to the current organisation of the NHS. PCTs are responsible for ensuring that primary care is available to all members of the public and for ensuring that practices are funded and managed adequately for this. PCTs also are responsible for commissioning all secondary and specialist services. The LMC has quarterly meetings with both PCTs and is otherwise in regular contact with them. The LMC’s policy is to work co-operatively and supportively with PCTs, but also to defend GPs where conflicts of interest arise.
